2 O magnify the Lord with me,
With me exalt His name; When in distress to Him I called, He to my rescue came.
3 The hosts of God encamp around
The dwellings of the just;
Deliverance He affords to all,
Who on His succor trust. |
4 0 make but tria. of His love;
Experience will decide, How blest are they, and only they, Who in His truth confide.
5 Fear Him, ye saints, and ye will then
Have nothing else to fear; Make ye His service your delight,— He'll make your wants His care.
Tate and Brady, 1696

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defence is sure.
3 Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame, From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same.
4 A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone; |
Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun.
5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away; They fly forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day.
6 0 God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.
